A huge thank you for our employee of the month Miranda Gilmore. She has definitely gone above and beyond this year in the face of adversity. She personifies the “Antler Spirit”. We appreciate your hard work and dedication.

Academic night at Deer. Literacy was our main focus but we had to have some other fun with carols, coding, cookie decorating, hot chocolate and two special visitors - The Cat in the Hat and Santa! Santa had to work out a bit before visiting with all the kids tonight.

"Reading is important, because if you can read, you can learn anything about everything and everything about anything." —Tomie dePaola. Thanks again 6th grade for sharing your love of reading with the 1st grade.

"So it is with children who learn to read fluently and well: They begin to take flight into whole new worlds as effortlessly as young birds take to the sky." —William James. Thank you Deer 6th graders for helping to open up new worlds to the Kindergarten students.

A few of the 7th and 8th graders took a short field trip to Jasper today and decorated the “Deer” tree with homemade ornaments. Each school in our county has one. We also made handmade Christmas cards for every resident in the nursing home there and handed them out. We had extra cards so we gave those to the staff as well. The students stayed and visited with some of them and it was so nice! “And a good time was had by all!” Merry Christmas!!
