As Deer/Mt. Judea School District prepares for the 2020-2021 School Reopening, we are collecting data from parents to aid in the planning process. Tomorrow, July 15, a survey will be posted on our website and social media. Please complete this survey by July 22, 2020 to inform us of the type of learning you prefer for your child this fall. The teachers will be reaching out to families to assist with the survey process. If you need help with filling out the survey please don't hesitate to let them know. I am sure you are wondering what our 2020-2021 school year is going to look like. Before we look at the new year coming, let’s take a journey back in time. You played a significant part in your child’s education this year. Your support and patience with us was greatly appreciated. We are a very blessed school community, but we want to take this moment to show our appreciation to our student’s first teacher. That’s you. Thank you again.
As plans seem to be changing almost daily we are faced with difficult decisions. There is one thing for certain, the Deer/Mt Judea campuses will be open and staff will be ready to teach your children. Our goal is to be onsite to instruct your children. We may use the term blended learning. When we do, it just means that your child can learn on campus and also be ready to learn at home if necessary. Blended is the new “traditional school” where students will report to school buildings to learn, but both teachers and students will be prepared to teach and learn at home if illness, inclement weather, or state closings necessitates.
We have formed our Ready for Learning committee to make sure we are planning for all aspects of your child’s education. Their safety is our number one goal. This team consists of school staff, parents, community members and medical advisers.
Each family has its own set of circumstances in making decisions whether you allow your child to attend school onsite or to allow them to continue with the digital learning platform. We respect your decisions. We will follow the Arkansas Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control guidelines for reentry. We would appreciate your help in completing our online survey that will be out next week. It will give direction in planning best for your child’s school year.
We miss your children and will be working hard to prepare the best plan for reentry for them.

Friday, May 22, from 3-6 the Deer Elementary staff will be in the parking lot for a drop-off/pick up line. The teachers will have the student's stuff packed up from their classrooms to hand them along with their report cards and other surprises. We ask that the students please bring their Chromebooks and all other school materials back to the school on this date for drop off. We have missed you and can't wait to see those smiling faces again in person even if it has to be from 6 feet away.
Deer/Mt. Judea has an open board member seat for position #5. Letter of interest can be sent to cristan.martin@deer.k12.ar.us by noon on May 29th. This position will be appointed by the board on June 8th.
Alexander McCutcheon won 2nd place in Networking Concepts at Arkansas State FBLA 2020! He will compete at Nationals online this year!! Way to go Alexander!! We are proud of you!!
