The Deer-Mt. Judea School District would like to welcome Dr. Elizabeth Nichols in her new role as Superintendent!
With over 20 years of experience in education, Dr. Elizabeth Nichols is a lifelong learner and servant leader committed to student success, staff empowerment, and community engagement. Currently serving as Superintendent, Dr. Nichols brings a wealth of experience from both the classroom and the counseling office—spaces where she first discovered the transformative power of education.
Dr. Nichols began her career as a teacher, spending four years in the classroom teaching History, Spanish, ESL, Special Education, and English. This diverse foundation allowed her to connect with students from all walks of life and foster a culturally responsive and academically rigorous learning environment.
Driven by a deep passion for supporting the whole child, Dr. Nichols transitioned into school counseling, where she served for 16 years. During that time, she worked closely with students and families to navigate academic, emotional, and social challenges, reinforcing her belief that meaningful relationships are the cornerstone of effective education.
Dr. Nichols holds certifications in History, ESL, Counseling, Principalship, and District Administration. Academically, her dedication to lifelong learning is reflected in the five degrees she's earned, culminating in a Doctorate in Education. This commitment fuels her work today—leading with vision, integrity, and a heart for every learner and educator in the district.
Outside of their professional life, Dr. Nichols is a proud spouse of 31 years and a parent to two grown children. Family remains her greatest source of inspiration and strength.
As Superintendent, Dr. Nichols is honored to lead with purpose—championing equity, innovation, and a shared commitment to excellence across the district.
