Deer/Mt. Judea has openings for the following positions:
K-12 Licensed Physical Education/Health/7/12 Social Studies.
K-12 Licensed Counselor - other certifications/experience needed eschool administrator/trainer, school testing coordinator, and family and community engagement facilitator.

Following Governor Asa Hutchinson’s decision to lift the mask mandate on March 30, our local school board voted to lift the mandate for the Deer/Mt Judea campuses. Face coverings are optional at school and school-sanctioned events. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. All other guidelines from the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) and the Arkansas Department of Education (DESE) will remain in effect throughout the 2020-21 school year.
Our DMJ students, staff, and communities have done a remarkable job mitigating the spread of COVID-19 in the school setting this school year. As a result of this dedicated effort, our instruction for our students has continued with minimal interruptions. Our success can be contributed to a variety of measures such as reduced class sizes, mask wearing, disinfecting and cleaning, handwashing, and social distancing to the extent practical. We will continue to social distance to the extent possible, clean and sanitize facilities, encourage hand washing, and respect others in their decisions.
The overall health and safety of our school community remains a priority. The staff members were given the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at one of our on campus clinics. The district has worked closely with NARMC and the Newton County Health Department to assist community members who wanted to receive the vaccine.
We will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 numbers in our district’s communities and those surrounding areas. The district will continue to work with ADH and DESE in regards to reporting, testing, and continued updates on COVID-19.

DESE Releases Parent Survey: As part of a coordinated response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) in partnership with the Office of Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas has developed Parent/Guardian Survey for soliciting family input on what is working now and what may be considered for the future. The purpose of the survey seeks to involve families in an organized, ongoing and timely way in planning, review, and improvement. The survey will not identify individual district responses, but rather to establish an understanding of the state as a whole. The information will be aggregated by region only; therefore, families will be asked to identify the region of the state in which they live in order to understand the distribution of the survey without specifically identifying any district by name.
The survey will close on Friday, November 20. OEP will be sharing results at the December State Board meeting.

The first day of school has been moved to August 24th per Governor Hutchinson.

Parents and Guardians,
I am sure you are wondering what our 2020-2021 school year is going to look like. Before we look at the new year coming, let’s take a journey back in time. You played a significant part in your child’s education this year. Your support and patience with us was greatly appreciated. We are a very blessed school community, but we want to take this moment to show our appreciation to our student’s first teacher. That’s you. Thank you again.
As plans seem to be changing almost daily we are faced with difficult decisions. There is one thing for certain, the Deer/Mt Judea campuses will be open and staff will be ready to teach your children. Our goal is to be onsite to instruct your children. We may use the term blended learning. When we do, it just means that your child can learn on campus and also be ready to learn at home if necessary. Blended is the new “traditional school” where students will report to school buildings to learn, but both teachers and students will be prepared to teach and learn at home if illness, inclement weather, or state closings necessitates.
We have formed our Ready for Learning committee to make sure we are planning for all aspects of your child’s education. Their safety is our number one goal. This team consists of school staff, parents, community members and medical advisers.
Each family has its own set of circumstances in making decisions whether you allow your child to attend school onsite or to allow them to continue with the digital learning platform. We respect your decisions. We will follow the Arkansas Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control guidelines for reentry. We would appreciate your help in completing our online survey that will be out next week. It will give direction in planning best for your child’s school year.
We miss your children and will be working hard to prepare the best plan for reentry for them.
-DMJ Ready for Learning Team
